Every child deserves a place in class.
The Little Oasis Foundation helps children around Arusha, Tanzania, at school and at home. We provide the things that make the difference: a uniform and books, a hot meal, health insurance, and a bed, a mattress and food at home.

A child needs to get to school, eat, stay healthy, read, and sleep safely at home. Our programmes cover all five.

School is free in Tanzania. Staying there costs money.
Under the Government’s fee-free basic education policy there are no tuition fees in public primary and lower-secondary schools. Families still buy uniforms, shoes, exercise books and stationery, and contribute to school meals. For a family living day to day, those costs decide whether a child stays in class.
And school is only half of a child’s day. When we visit the homes where our children live, we often find several children sharing one mattress, or too little food. So we help there too, with beds, mattresses, bedding and food, together with the local leaders.

Year one
Our plan for the first year
Our first year starts with one partner school in the Arusha region and the homes of its children. This is what it will pay for, including the people and transport that make it work. Home visits are funded from gifts with no programme chosen.
Help us reach itFunded by travel
Every traveller with our sister companies gives $25.
Barafu Tours, Trailheads Safaris and Wildcation Travels give $25 to the foundation for every guest they host, paid by the company and never added to the guest’s price. Through the Hody Community Fund, 1% of every Hody guest booking goes to the foundation too.

We buy from local suppliers and deliver to schools and homes, and send donors proof of what their gift paid for.
Children’s privacy first
We never publish children’s names, faces or where they live. Visits happen with teachers or local leaders present.
